SOSi is seeking a 911 Operations Specialist for our current contract located on Camp Taji in Iraq.


  • Takes incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for those seeking assistance

  • Routing responders in the field to emergency situations

  • Monitors the 911 emergency call system and provides the necessary response

  • Provides resources and information to callers in non-emergency situations

  • Operates the Giant Voice site wide notification system to distribute emergency information throughout the site

  • Coordinates emergency services response with the necessary stakeholders

  • Acts as a subject matter expert as related to Camp Taji;s emergency and evacuation plans and procedures 

  • Uses knowledge of communication techniques and equipment to administer the Operations communications function and emergency response systems

  • Possesses a working knowledge of fire and emergency services terms and techniques

  • Understands and uses basic dispatch codes, standard abbreviations and common terminology used by emergency/medical, fire and security service providers 

  • Adheres to applicable procedures and guidelines in the accomplishment of program objectives

  • Keeps stakeholders apprised of concerns/problems, updates, timelines and summaries related to emergency responses

  • Maintains records and files reports 

  • Demonstrates familiarity of the Camp Taji footprint and is able to identify and locate ECPs, guard towers, hard shelters, bunkers, DFAC, gyms, PX, medical clinic, fire station and other points of interest   

  • Knows local geography to include Camp Taji’s Green, Amber and Red Zones; Baghdad, Iraq and Middle East

  • Carries out duties of an Operations Specialist

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Associate’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and three (3) years of experience directly related to Base Life Support Services

  • At least one (1) year of experience applying emergency response system regulations and procedures

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of safety and security protocols 

  • Proven experience using various computer and radio systems to dispatch emergency responders

  • Able to multi-task and remain calm while communicating necessary information to a caller who may be in crisis 

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong to advanced computer and software proficiency to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets and electronic presentations; high proficiency in typing, math, grammar and computers

  • Operates office equipment (e.g. Computer; Scanner; VoIP Phone; Printer(s), 

  • Familiar with basic radio rules and procedures

  • Familiar with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Illustrator

  • Organized, professional, courteous; possesses a strong work ethic and ability to grasp Mission requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to make significant presentations

  • Fluency and confidence in speaking the English language

  • Verifiable success working in OCONUS Federal Contracting with the Department of Defense, Department of State, Contingency Operations or other international assignments


  • Fluency in a foreign language

  • DOD, IFSAC Public Safety Telecommunicator I & II

  • DOD, IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness


Working Conditions


  • Willingness to live and work under environmental and other conditions that may be uncomfortable at times

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

  • Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary 

  • May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
