SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Data Conditioning Specialist to monitor, collect, and condition foreign open source information. The Data Conditioning Specialist would be in the DC metro area or onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Able to monitor, collect, and condition (e.g. structure, categorize/code/tag, highlight, comment on) foreign open source information to include social media, radio, television, newspapers, blogs, websites, and various Internet sites.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and a keen understanding of the information environment as they identify items meeting mission requirements, condition this data in accordance with Sponsor instructions, and, if necessary, import it into a data repository designated by the Sponsor.
  • Review feeds from English-language sources to determine suitability for further dissemination into reporting stream and condition/enrich selected items according to customer requirements.
  • Must possess fundamental knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Office suite and Internet tools and be able to follow technical instructions for the use of exploitation tools and data-centric processes.

Desired Functional/Domain Areas of Expertise

In additional to expertise as a Data Conditioning Specialist, desired domain/topical experience is preferred in one or more of the following areas:

  • Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) – Chemical, Biological, Radiation/Nuclear (CBRN) weapon developments of state and non-state actors, including sub-specialties in specific WMD types (CBRN), delivery vehicles, and detection methods, satellite and space systems.
  • Counterterrorism (CT) – Monitoring and analysis of leadership, motivations, capabilities, plans, and intentions of foreign terrorist groups, as well as their state and non-state sponsors.
  • Counter-proliferation (CP) – Collection and analysis of information sources to support the countering of WMD threats and the proliferation of WMD-related components and materials, to also include counter-threat transnational crime related areas of narcotics, human trafficking, and cryptocurrency and financial intelligence, CBRNE technologies
  • Detection and Evaluation of Foreign Influence (DEFI) – Identification and analysis of undue influence by foreign governments on political, economic, and security policymaking of other governments, experience in Information Operations, Counterintelligence (CI) netops

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years-experience doing large scale, bulk data collects
  • BA/BS with SW development, Data Modeling, Data Analytics, Math, Information Systems, Web/multimedia disciplines
  • Demonstrate strong analytic, structured problem solving technical skills
  • Must be able to obtain a US government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to use databases where content is stored (Postgres, Mongo, MySQL, etc...)
  • Perform quality control to ensure data is formatted to client’s specifications via data dictionary or data format taxonomy
  • Ability to use various tools such as Microsoft Office and others provided by client to properly condition data
  • Demonstrate strong analytic, structured problem solving technical skills
  • Fluency in a foreign language

  • Flexible shift hours to meet surge
  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
