SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking an Exploitation Specialist to support mission requirements. The Exploitation Specialist can be virtual, in the DC metro area, or onsite at SOSi.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and a keen understanding of the information environment identifying items meeting mission requirements.
  • Condition data in accordance with Sponsor instructions.
  • When necessary, import into data repository designated by the sponsor.
  • Review feeds from English to language sources to determine suitability for further dissemination in the reporting stream.
  • Condition/enrich selected items according to sponsor requirements.

 

Desired Functional/Domain Areas of Expertise

 

In additional to expertise as a Translator, desired domain/topical experience is preferred in one or more of the following areas:

 

  • Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) – Chemical, Biological, Radiation/Nuclear (CBRN) weapon developments of state and non-state actors, including sub-specialties in specific WMD types (CBRN), delivery vehicles, and detection methods, satellite and space systems
  • Counterterrorism (CT) – Monitoring and analysis of leadership, motivations, capabilities, plans, and intentions of foreign terrorist groups, as well as their state and non-state sponsors
  • Counter-proliferation (CP) – Collection and analysis of information sources to support the countering of WMD threats and the proliferation of WMD-related components and materials, to also include counter-threat transnational crime related areas of narcotics, human trafficking, and cryptocurrency and financial intelligence, CBRNE technologies
  • Detection and Evaluation of Foreign Influence (DEFI) – Identification and analysis of undue influence by foreign governments on political, economic, and security policymaking of other governments, experience in Information Operations, Counterintelligence (CI) net ops

Qualifications

 

  • 3-10 + years of experience doing large scale, bulk data collection
  • Subject matter expert or education in politics, leadership, culture, religion, international relations, economics, energy, counter proliferation, cyber threats, counter-narcotics, military, science and technology, counterterrorism, or media of a particular country or
  • Must be capable of reading, listening to, and comprehending specified language with the primary objective of collecting, evaluating, processing, and enriching open source information to address requirements and properly scoped key intelligence questions.
  • Exploitation activities will be focused on identifying and extracting insights from foreign-language data/information.
  • Functions: Monitoring/selection, writing reports, research, baseline maintenance, identification of quantitative and qualitative trends, patterns, and relationships in data.
  • May be required to have strong foreign and/or English language skills but are not required to formally translate material into English.
  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet tools, and be able to follow technical instructions for the use of exploitation tools and data-centric processes.
  • Must be a native level speaker of language.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of information collected from the latest digital media platforms, widely used terminology, find and/or extract information from various sources, and evaluate source authoritativeness and relevance.
  • Must be able to describe the information environment, and alert the sponsor to changes, including shifts in the biases, influence, and overall intelligence value of sources.
  • Must be knowledgeable about Internet penetration rates, and patterns of use across a variety of print and broadcast formats, social media platforms, and digital and mobile applications.
  • Must be willing to work shift work
  • Must be able to obtain a US government security clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OSE or OSINT is preferred
