Overview

SOS International, LLC (SOSi) is seeking a SATCOM Engineer to add to its team in Rock Island, Illinois. They will be a part of a team responsible for analyzing and resolving technical issues surrounding Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT). The ideal candidate will possess very strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to easily identify and solve problems. This position can also be locted in our Reston, Virginia office.

Responsibilities

• Act as part of an escalation team for resolving customer SATCOM issues.
• Perform network systems monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.
• Perform complex studies to determine networking capabilities and reliability.
• Perform proactive tracking and reporting of network usage statistics.
• Analyze network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
• Make recommendations to augment and/or enhance communications networks.
• Provided technical problem diagnoses and resolution support for all associated systems, including line monitoring, modem loop-back tests, LAN performance monitoring and terminal failure determination.
• Provide hardware and software installation and configuration support.
• Provide hardware and software acquisition support.

Qualifications

• Current in-scope Secret security clearance.
• HS Diploma.
• 5 Years relevant experience in SATCOM support.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with DoD policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field.
• 5+ years direct experience deploying and sustaining networks utilizing various satellite, wired, and other wireless technologies.
• Strong experience with overall SATCOM troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with the iDirect SATCOM operational environment.
• Strong Experience working with SATCOM providers to solve active customer issues.
• The ability to serve as a SATCOM escalation point for the Service Desk.
• Experience working with SATCOM Engineers to solve issues as a part of a functional team.
• Experience with iDirect SATCOM reporting and the ability to effectively pull reports on demand.
• Experience working on SATCOM-focused projects.
• The ability to meet and/or exceed time-oriented metrics goals.
• Fluency with a foreign language.
