SOSi is seeking a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner – PRN for our current contract located on Camp Taji in Iraq.


  • Reports to the SOSi Program Manager and will be clinically supervised by the SOSi Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and work at the direction of a Physician
  • Assigned to treat patients in one of the SOSi camp medical clinics
  • Supports the medical function and will treat patients in these settings to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis, treatment and recovery, request necessary tests and follow-up visits and refer patients to specialists as necessary
  • Some medical situations may require coordinating with local or remote hospitals to determine local capabilities, coordinate admission, monitor and arrange final disposition
  • Some settings will require stabilization of patient and coordination of evacuation of patient to local, regional or international higher levels of care
  • Stabilize and prepare sick and injured personnel to a higher-level medical facility if required
  • Supports the physician in planning and implementing the medical support program (preventive and corrective) to maintain the health of all site personnel
  • Provide a U.S. standard of care for our patient care/treatment model
  • All services shall be provided in accordance with established health care standards, principles and ethics of the medical profession
  • Document care delivered and follow up care required in the appropriate patient care record
  • Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements


  • Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. State Physician Assistant license and have NCCPA certification
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Recently completed a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course or comparable advanced trauma course are very desirable
  • Current clinical experience in direct patient care and have worked a minimum of 6 of the last 12 months in desired career field
  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must have a current U.S. Passport
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English
  • Work hours are based on a 72 hr work week
    • Typically, six 12-hour days but other variations may apply
  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance with DOD MOD12
  • No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment to include:
    • Protective mask
    • Ballistic helmet
    • Body armor
    • Chemical/biological protective garments
  • No conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger

Preferred Qualifications

  • A PA/NP with emergency medicine experience is highly desirable
  • Have and maintain current certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required

Working Conditions

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
