SOSi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Program Manager/Senior Linguist in Saudi Arabia in support of the Office for Program Management, Ministry of Interior (OPM-MOI) team. This is a high visibility position. The PM/Senior Linguist will report directly to the Contracting Officer Representative and SOSi’s Director for Country Operations. He/she will lead a team of professional interpreters and translators within the OPM-MOI team in order to support the U.S. Government’s strategic relationships, planning, and implementation of programs in support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ministry of Interior.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SOSi’s OPM-MOI interpreters and translators to ensure all deliverables are met, and that all day-to-day operations are conducted in an accurate, compliant, and professional manner.
  • Serve as a senior point-of-contact for the MOI-OPM leadership to ensure all services by SOSi meet or exceed the standard, as well as to provide status updates, answer any questions, and offer recommendations on how to streamline operations and better enhance the program.
  • Manage scope, scheduling, and resources to ensure compliance with both the contract’s deliverables and Terms and Conditions.
  • Implements productive and qualitative customer-service standards by resolving problems, completing audits, identifying trends, and determining system improvements in the different functionalities of the contract.
  • Prepare all reporting requirements to ensure all actions taken by SOSi within a given period are documented and subsequently submitted to the Contracts Manager for review before being submitted to the customer.
  • Recruit, train, and monitor interpreters and translators for the OPM-MOI contract. Administer corrective action as required. Perform simultaneous or consecutive interpretation of events/conferences from English into Gulf Arabic and from Gulf Arabic into English.
  • Interpret training courses during classroom presentation.
  • Translation duties may include, but are not limited to, project specific agreements (PSAs), course curriculum, manuals publications (including newspapers), diplomatic notes, and correspondence. Translations are from English to Arabic or from Arabic to English.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Translation or related field.
  • Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in translation, interpretation and/or language training in English and Arabic. At least one year in leadership role managing a team of linguists.
  • Language Requirements: Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Level IV (Fluent speaking/reading/writing) of English and Arabic required. (These skills will be tested).
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to translate and interpret information and/or material in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand the details of all speech in Modern Standard Arabic & Colloquial Saudi dialect(s).
  • Job Knowledge: The applicant should be primarily a linguist, but must also possess team management, program administration, and, be knowledgeable about Saudi Arabian culture, government structure, political and economic environment.
    • Ability to concisely focus listening ability with verbal and written communication to tailor messages for the target audience.
    • Ability to take a logical and analytical approach to solving problems and resolving issues.
    • Ability to work efficiently and productively and manage time well.
    • Capacity to work under deadlines and in stressful situations without becoming overwhelmed or stressed.
    • Capability to display confidence in your capabilities, colleagues, and the company.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Good knowledge of the Middle Eastern and Saudi Arabian geography and culture and adequate knowledge of American culture.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in spoken Arabic and English and be capable to perform instant analysis in order to understand correctly the substance of the words and information to be interpreted, including attention to detail and nuances. They shall adapt to constantly changing circumstances, personalities, and work environments.
  • Demonstrate mastery with a wide range of terminology in many fields, as well as have a thorough knowledge of the KSA Government, history, and culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Possess sufficient specialized knowledge to be able to handle, with personal research and/or topical briefings by the Government, any technical subject of high complexity, and be able to bridge terminology gaps, incongruent methodologies, different measurement systems, and similar disparities. Perform interpreting with clarity, accuracy, and professional, poised delivery. Interpreters shall perform interpreting services with the desired tenor of a public statement or the goals to be reached in a negotiation.
  • Capability to trace, analyze and define previously unknown concepts and theories, developing equally sophisticated counterpart terms in the other language that have the equivalent meaning and impact in a different cultural environment.
  • Must be able to successfully pass security and medical requirements if applicable

Working Conditions

  • Requires periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Standard office work environment; standard work week is Sunday - Thursday.
  • May require some travel within Riyadh.
