*THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD*

SOSi is seeking a Linux Specialist System Engineer to support a customer on Ft. Meade, Maryland. In this position, you will maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with Network Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
  • Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.
  • Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • May be assigned responsibility for less experienced staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s of Science Degree and 2 years related professional experience.
  • In Scope DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must meet IAT Level II certification such as Security+ or equivalent.
  • A SME in engineering solutions for Linux will be required to hold and maintain Red Hat Certified Engineer certification as well as have a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Fluency in a foreign language desired, not required.
