SOSi is seeking a Cultural Advisor to provide full-time, on-site interpretation and translation services in multiple locations throughout the Middle East. Their primary function shall be to furnish administrative and interpreter services for our U.S. Government Customer. These duties include, but are not limited to, supporting the Customer or authorized designated representative, interacting and coordinating with Host Nation (HN) personnel to include matters of security, medical and ministry personnel, deployed United States (US) military personnel, security of assets/resources, and base defense. The cultural advisors will also accurately translate orally, interpret orally, and transcribe English/Arabic language documents as required.


  • Perform clear and concise expression orally and in writing in both English and the local language.
  • Produce idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and speech in both English and the local language.
  • Conduct consecutive, accurate translations of on-going conversations/activities in both English and the local language.
  • Be familiar with the local culture and customs and able to conduct one's self properly; deal unobtrusively with the local populace.
  • Conduct work assignments and adhere to standards of conduct as prescribed by customer instructions, this task order, and the laws of the host nation.
  • Function as an integral member of a team of highly trained professionals responsible for the safety and security of U.S. military and civilian personnel and resources.
  • Operate government-owned vehicles in accordance with established standards.


  • Candidates must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak Modern Standard Arabic and English and achieve a minimum score of 3 on the ILR scale in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with U.S. Forces, U.S. citizens and other Coalition forces and personnel.
  • Knowledge of local culture and customs to interact unobtrusively with the local populace.
  • Capable of functioning during a level of heightened state of threat or during extended periods of high pressure and stress.
  • Must be able to function as an integral member of a team of highly trained professionals responsible for the safety and security of personnel and resources.

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to live and work in the harsh, desert environment, in temporary facilities.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
