Overview

SOSi is currently seeking an experienced Data Center Administrator to join our Financial Sytems Operations (FSO) team in Charleston, SCThe Financial Systems Operations Unit is responsible for the operation of both domestic and overseas financial systems, including payroll, accounting, accounts receivable, disbursing, cash reconciliation, data warehouse, imaging, and Treasury reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serves specified organization units through the provision of satisfactory computing services. Assist management in the operation of desktop related services.
  • Must stay current with the latest developments in Microsoft client operation systems and other LAN/WAN technology
  • Manages, monitors, and implements patches (Operating System and Application) for desktops.
  • Provides backup support for server patching.
  • Manages, monitors, and implements security configurations for desktops based on Enterprise configuration guidelines.
  • Provides network, hardware, and software troubleshooting for desktops.
  • Assists in the operation of all software and network operations related to desktops.
  • Submits written recommendations relative to identification, evaluation and implementation of desktop related applications and systems.
  • Manages and implements rollout (via manual or automated process) of desktop related applications and systems.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and tests software/hardware problems and submits findings to management officials.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots intra-system telecommunications.
  • Serves as desktop support technical advisor making recommendations on the type and amount of desktop related equipment needed.
  • Resolves hardware problems.
  • Maintains inventory of all desktop equipment and supplies. Submits recommendations relative to the identification of supplies, equipment, power, environmental controls, and furniture.
  • Schedules or performs the repair and/or replacement of defective computer equipment.
  • Maintains close contract with all elements of the Department of State and other government agencies in order to effectively deal with problems and organizational issues.

Software Systems Utilized:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 – 2016 Operating Systems
  • Desktop OS - Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • VMware vSphere 5.1 – 6.0

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Four-year degree in computer science or closely related field.
  • Technical certification in network operations and maintenance (ex. Network+)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in computer network operations.
  • Experience in leading teams and/or supervising work groups.
  • Experience with enterprise computer network systems and operating environments, and COTS software, including Microsoft Server and desktop Operating Systems, Office suite and Outlook.
  • Experience in providing user support and troubleshooting for these products.
  • Experience in systems development, requirements development, and/or automated financial systems analysis.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate technical as well as non-technical information, both orally and in writing. Must place emphasis on teamwork and work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge and Experience with:
    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • Automated patching and patch management systems (e.g. SCCM.)

    • Servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 – 2016 Operating Systems

    • Basic Knowledge of local area network hardware infrastructure

    • Basic Knowledge of common scripting languages (e.g. Powershell)

    • Desktop computer hardware

    • Network Printers

    • Knowledge and abilities in the administration of Microsoft Exchange

    • Knowledge and abilities in the administration of Active Directory

       

       

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Work environment is normal for office setting in a multiple (closely located) building campus located in a Federal Facility
  • The workday is 8-hour and 45-minutes including a 45-minute non-compensated lunch
  • Core hours are from 9am-3pm
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
