SOS is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor / Manager for a proposal located in Central Africa.


  • The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor / Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Facilities Maintenance department of a Life Support Services contract.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on all technical aspects related to the operational and technical aspects of the facilities and approach to maintenance and repair.


  • Bachelor' s degree in facilities management, mechanical engineering and/or industrial engineering from an accredited college or university in the United States, Britain, Canada or Europe
  • At least five years of experience in the following:
    • Managing, or at a supervisory level, large compounds requiring maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facilities
    • Managing, or at a supervisory level, generator powered electricity, sewage plants, water pump houses, and hydraulic ramps
    • Managing, or at a supervisory level, large numbers of AC split units in hot weather conditions; and
    • Working at a supervisory level in large building and infrastructure projects.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of integrated planning team.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be austere.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and potential for hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of the potential requirement to move on short notice and under adverse conditions.
