Overview
SOSi is seeking a Cable Television (CATV) Technician II to support the 379th Communications Squadron in Qatar.
**This position is contingent upon contract award**
Responsibilities
Provide Intermediate level experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, alignments, testing and troubleshooting of CATV broadcast equipment as specified.
Supply, install, operate and maintain CATV systems and equipment, including the Government satellite cable network and FM Armed Forces Radio and Television Service radio broadcasts and support the day-to-day technical operations of the CATV infrastructure.
Install, repair and maintain CATV equipment and subsystem equipment, existing cables, junction boxes and interface equipment.
Install inside cable plant coaxial cable to support expansion of the system, including support to identify defective cable, replace and bury CATV cabling.
Support Commanders’ Access Channel, Force Protection Channel and Morale Channel.
Qualifications
Intermediate level of “Hands On” experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment.
Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits and be able to exercise independent judgement.
In Scope DoD Secret clearance.
Candidate must successfully meet Visa and CRC processing requirements to include USCENTCOM SG MOD 14 and 15.
Candidate must have a valid US passport.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, alignments, testing and troubleshooting of CATV broadcast receive equipment.
Familiarization with:
Downlink antennas
LNB’s
Decoders
Modulators
Signal monitors
Fiber Optic Distribution
Video ticker system
Phase Alternating Line (PAL) Encoding System
Fluency in a foreign language desired but not required.
Working Conditions
This position is in an environment with austere and challenging conditions in extreme heat.
There may be lifting and climbing requirements up to 25 pounds and 50 feet.
