SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking an Aerospace Engineer (Mid) to support a government program in Charlottesville, VA.


  • Establish the validity of new intelligence data by comparing and contrasting information from different sources using appropriate scientific, engineering, or technical methods
  • Define critical intelligence issues and trends for a difficult and complex functional area
  • Develop and utilize new research methodologies and engineering analytic techniques, including sophisticated computer models, integrated databases, foreign materiel exploitation plans, and surrogate testing
  • Create and modify necessary data files and analyze data to develop responses to a wide range of complex intelligence tasking
  • Determine technical omissions, discrepancies, and reliability of all-sources of material by applying known technical constraints on equipment operation or technology application, and extrapolating from established data on foreign equipment characteristics, foreign research and development (R&D) and production capabilities
  • This position requires travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations


  • Active in scope TS/SCI clearance, must be willing to obtain a CI Polygraph
  • MA/MS degree in related scientific field AND 10 years of experience as an Aerospace Engineer on DoD programs and projects that provided expert intelligence
  • Meets all qualifications and skills required of a Junior Aerospace Engineer
  • Demonstrates ability to support defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific research, characterizations, and analytic production
  • Demonstrates ability to support defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific / engineering research, capability / limitation analysis, reverse engineering analysis / characterizations, facility and vulnerability assessments on foreign aerospace capabilities
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and produce assessments and products that include but are not limited to current and future foreign aerospace technology and systems such as aircraft, spacecraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and ground control systems to understand capabilities, vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the scientific and technical research and applications listed in the labor category required to meet mission requirements
  • Provides in-depth scientific and technical analysis to provide support analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulates key findings. Demonstrates ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrates ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions; routinely tests analytic rigor of analytic products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with the application of quantitative and qualitative analytic methods
  • Detailed knowledge of DoD and/or IC interagency operations
  • Understanding of DoD Intelligence processes, activities, standards, and available analytic tools with general understanding of program operations
  • Knowledge of and experience with Conventional and Irregular Warfare concepts and operations
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required
