SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Chemist (Mid) to support a government program in Charlottesville, VA.


  • Develop research designs, including formulating testable questions, identifying and defining key concepts and variables, and matching appropriate methods to problems as they pertain to a broad knowledge of the principles, concepts, and techniques of multiple complex intelligence functional areas to include GMI and S&TI analysis principles, techniques and methodologies, and skill in applying knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments
  • Leverage open source tools to visualize datasets and analytic findings related to foreign ground forces; characterize uncertainty associated with data, tools, and analytic approaches; present complex analysis verbally and in writing; and work closely with small teams to conduct research and analysis tasks.
  • Process, tag, and index unstructured, semi-structured, and structured classified and unclassified data sets
  • This position requires travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations


  • Active in scope TS/SCI clearance, must be willing to obtain a CI Polygraph
  • MA/MS degree in related scientific field AND 10 years of experience as a Chemist on DoD programs and projects that provided expert intelligence analysis services
  • Meets all qualifications and skills required of a Junior Chemist
  • Demonstrates ability to conduct all-source analytic production of national doctrine, strategy, plans, policies, objectives, goals, intentions, command authorities force structures, and resources relating to foreign weapons programs, foreign military materials, chemical plants, and manufacturing facilities
  • Demonstrates ability to serve as a technical consultant on topics that include toxic industrial chemicals, toxic industrial materials, rocket fuels, agriculture, CW, nuclear chemistry, and synthetic organic chemistry and to participate in the development of all- source analysist production
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the scientific and technical research and applications listed in the labor category required to meet mission requirements
  • Provides in-depth scientific and technical analysis to provide support analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulates key findings
  • Demonstrates ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrates ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions; routinely tests analytic rigor of analytic products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with the application of quantitative and qualitative analytic methods
  • Detailed knowledge of DoD and/or IC interagency operations
  • Understanding of DoD Intelligence processes, activities, standards, and available analytic tools with general understanding of program operations
  • Knowledge of and experience with Conventional and Irregular Warfare concepts and operations
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required
