SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Computer Scientist (Senior) to support a government program in Charlottesville, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in performing research or other professional and scientific work in the investigation and application of the relations between space, time, matter, and energy in the areas of mechanics, sound, optics, heat, electricity, magnetism, radiation, or atomic and nuclear phenomena
  • Must have expertise related to advanced power and energy, directed energy weapons (e.g., radio frequency and high-power lasers), electro-dynamic kinetic energy weapons, electro-optics, lasers, microelectronics, RF sub-component technologies, and electronic attack/electronic protection algorithms
  • Provide expertise in forecasting emerging and disruptive technologies that can span a broad range of topic areas to include but not be limited to: quantum information sciences (e.g., computing, key distribution, cryptography, communications, sensors), artificial intelligence, autonomy and counter-autonomy, advanced computing (e.g., supercomputing, high performance computing, optical, neuromorphic) encryption, and cryptanalysis
  • This position requires travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations

Qualifications

  • Active in scope TS/SCI clearance, must be willing to obtain a CI Polygraph
  • MA/MS degree in related scientific field AND 12 years of experience as a Computer Scientist on DoD programs and projects that provided expert intelligence analysis services
  • Demonstrates ability to employ mathematics, statics, information science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, network science, probability modeling, data mining, data engineering, data warehousing, data compression, data protection, and/or other scientific techniques to correlate complex, technical findings into graphical written, visual and verbal narrative products on trends of existing intelligence data to leverage other IC data sources
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and utilize machine learning and data mining algorithms, including, Multiple Information Model Synthesis Architecture (MIMOSA) prediction algorithms based on open source capabilities
  • Demonstrates ability to integrate or code algorithms to support intelligence search and discovery missions
  • Demonstrates ability to employ data science techniques to support predictive analysis, social media and crowd-source data analytics, wargaming, and strategy development
  • Demonstrates ability to employ exploratory analysis and rapid iteration techniques of large volumes of data to quickly derive intelligence
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the scientific and technical research and applications listed in the labor category required to meet mission requirements
  • Provides in-depth scientific and technical analysis to provide support analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulates key findings.
  • Demonstrates ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrates ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions; routinely tests analytic rigor of analytic products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with the application of quantitative and qualitative analytic methods
  • Detailed knowledge of DoD and/or IC interagency operations
  • Understanding of DoD Intelligence processes, activities, standards, and available analytic tools with general understanding of program operations
  • Knowledge of and experience with Conventional and Irregular Warfare concepts and operations
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
  • This position requires travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations
