Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a part-time Foreign Language Library Assistant in Vienna, Virginia. The Foreign Language Library Assistant performs scanning and optical character reading (OCRing) and uploading of foreign language books, newspapers, magazines, and other hard copies, as directed by SPD personnel. The FLLA is responsible for meeting scanning and uploading quotas and deadlines, and maintaining a high level of quality control. This position does not require experience. Foreign language ability in Chinese or Russian preferred, but not required. Successful candidates will be trained to use the scanning and uploading hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Scan foreign language books, newspapers, magazines, and other hard copies, as directed by SPD analytic staff
  • Apply optical character reading (OCRing) software to scanned files
  • Upload finished files to database

Qualifications

  • No previous experience required. Training on hardware and software will be provided
  • Ability to obtain a government issued security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic computer knowledge (Mac OS preferred)
  • Foreign language skills in Chinese or Russian preferred but not required

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • May require ability to lift/ and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs
