SOSi is seeking a Jr. Database Administrator to join its team supporting FORSCOM on Ft. Bragg. The ideal candidate will have experience installing and configuring SQL Server 2012 or higher, understand relational database design, experience with Database Backup and Restore. 


  • Position requires a strong understanding of database schema objects management, data modeling, and architecture.
  • Will facilitate, implement, monitor, and test database backups and recovery methodologies and processes.
  • Will monitor and optimize the performance of the production SQL server databases.
  • Responsible for database security, integrity, reliability, high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot database issues and the ability to analyze, design, build, test and implement solutions. Implement and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures and data integrity constraints.
  • Monitor file system space, database allocation, verify efficient use of disk storage, optimize space allocation, prevent out-of-space situations, and proactively plan for increased capacity and scalability.
  • Create Windows Scheduled Tasks for running BAT files.
  • Create database views, design/create databases, creation scripts, database foreign keys and indexes.
  • Troubleshoot database performance using SQL Profiler.
  • Migrate data from one database to another using SQL import tools, Excel, Access, or by writing stored procedures.
  • Import/export data from/to CSV files using SQL import/export tool.
  • Troubleshoot application errors by examining data, tables, stored procedures, functions and queries; troubleshoot connection errors and report errors.
  • Install SQL Server and Reporting Services.
  • Install report models and reports into production.
  • Grant database permissions.
  • Perform server maintenance.


  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DOD Secret security clearance.
  • An Associate’s Degree in an IT related field.
  • IAT II Information Assurance Certification II such as Security+ or equivalent is required.
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).
  • Experience with virtual environments (preferably Hyper-V) and SQL clustered environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) preferred.
  • Experience with SQL server replication topologies. Exposure to Resource Governor, Tuning Advisor, SQL Profiler and Windows Reliability and Performance Monitor.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of operation are between 0600 and 1800 (MON-FRI).
  • 8 hour shift between hours of operation, 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional need to support after hours and weekends as required by mission specific requirements.
  • Medium sized team including engineers, Senior Sys Admins & Junior Sys admins
