Exovera, an SOS International LLC (SOSi) company providing global media monitoring and analysis services for public and private customers, is seeking an East Africa Media Analyst to join our team. The winning candidate will be an English and Swahili-language speaker with an analytic mind and a sophisticated understanding of current events and international affairs, especially in East Africa (including Kenya). A Batchelor’s degree, outstanding writing skills in English, and proven experience in a field such as journalism, international relations/diplomacy, strategic communications, intelligence, consulting, and the like, are required. Additional post-graduate education, leadership skills, familiarity with social media, analytics, and additional language fluency are all advantages. The East Africa Media Analyst will be part of a larger team and must be willing to work an unconventional schedule, including evening shifts, and possibly overnights and weekends. Work shifts may be performed remotely.


  • Monitors a set of local and international print, broadcast, and social media sources in English and Swahili, selects and assesses information according to both set and dynamic criteria
  • Writes brief synopses and succinct analytic overviews highlighting and assessing key information
  • Contributes analysis pieces on international media content and coverage
  • Distributes relevant stories and reports to customers, including high-level government officials
  • May be tasked with editing the work of colleagues and oversight and guidance of more junior teammates
  • Interacts with a range of online tools, including media aggregators, social media applications, computer analysis systems and databases
  • Responds to customer inquiries and correspondence


  • Batchelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, Political Science, History, Sociology, or other similar field
  • Strong interest and knowledge of international current events, especially related to East Africa/Kenya
  • Ability to quickly process and organize large amounts of information and identify and assess items of greatest importance
  • Proven skill in and experience with professional writing and analysis, strong attention to detail
  • Comfort and experience with information and a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
  • Maturity, honesty, and integrity
  • Adaptability and teamwork

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate education in a relevant field
  • Relevant monitoring and analysis experience, and skill at objective analysis
  • Comfort with information technology and multimedia software, including publishing and analytics tools
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Native fluency in an additional East African language
