SOSi is seeking a Resident Monitor to join our team supporting emergency shelter operations in Southwest Texas. Operations will provide temporary residential shelter care and other related services to migrant families, including housing, childcare, medical and mental health services, case management, legal services, recreation, religious services, and food services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting similar Shelter Operations.


  • Maintains staffing of the residence at all times and does not leave post at the end of shift without first ensuring that there are staff are on duty for the next shift.
  • Answer’s telephone lines and manages activities including signing-in families, greeting visitors and volunteers and problem solve with shelter residents, all in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Documents and communicates rule violations and concerns about families as appropriate to the situation.
  • Respond to families' requests, rendering assistance as possible; respond to and resolve conflicts and crisis situations.
  • Maintain standardized operating procedures, safety of families, program integrity, and a supportive and caring environment.
  • Communicate with staff and all families in a non-judgmental manner, work cooperatively with all agency staff.


  • High School Diploma or GED Required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
  • Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement suitability determination for holding a Public Trust position.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain pre-employment medical clearance.
  • Ability to remain calm and able during emergencies.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure required.
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Shelter experience working with Migrant families and/or children.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including consecutive nights and weekends when necessary; shift work required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
