SOS International LLC is seeking a Virtual Desktop Administrator to join our team in Ft. Bragg. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Horizon (VDI) and/or mobile device communication and web application structure. The candidate must be knowledgeable and capable of managing a VMware Horizon 7.x Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to include virtual and physical networking, virtual and physical infrastructure systems. You must understand Windows 10 operating system maintenance, administration, patching, troubleshooting and version release upgrading.


  • Provide Engineering, Administration and Troubleshooting support for all technical matters related to Horizon 7.x VDI.
  • Create, Modify, Administrate and troubleshooting of desktop pools for end users to include VIP, Standard and Administrative workers ensuring desktop resources available at all times for all sites and classifications.
  • Monitoring and Administration of storage resources for vSAN and 3Par systems. Removing corrupt or invalid linked clone or instant clone entries from ADAM database and/or datastores as needed.
  • Create, Modify, Administrate and Troubleshooting of NIPR & SIPR master images and management block servers to ensure compliance with Customer, Mission and  IAVM requirements.
  • Provide Tier I/II/III support to customer, IMO and Service Desk to include but not limited to, OS/GPO/UEM troubleshooting, application installation, user errors, printer management and end point management.
  • Day to day ticket monitoring for errors, issues, new user request and trend analysis. Determining if an issue reported is user specific or occurring to all VDI users, determining root causes and resolving issues or outages expeditiously.
  • End User roaming network profile management, troubleshooting and maintenance with VMware UEM/DEM 9.x.
  • Ensuring DISA STIG checklist creation, remediation, and compliance occurs on all existing and new systems monthly.
  • Ensuring vulnerabilities identified are remediated ensuring IAVM compliance of desktop and server images.
  • Create and modify processes and technical documentation that consists of deployment, patching, test and validation along with performance and resource reports on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis as required.
  • Working with customer to determine baseline requirements. Defining and analysis of customer use cases and providing solutions to customer by leveraging VMware technologies.
  • Attending Meetings with customer leadership, contract leadership or 3rd party entities to determine and define objectives. Formulating project plans and providing proof of concepts validated by testing and reporting findings of test.
  • Monitoring resource consumption daily and providing weekly or monthly reports.
  • Identifying and addressing any concerns regarding resource consumption.
  • Successfully deliver projects, meet project milestones and communicate issues or risk appropriately.


  • Ability to obtain/maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • An Associate’s Degree in an IT related field.
  • Information Assurance Training Level II certification of Security + or equivalent required.
  • VMware DTM-VCP7 is desired.
  • Requires a solid understanding of Horizon (VDI) and/or mobile device communication and web application structure.
  • 5 years professional experience in a client facing role supporting VMware solutions and associated technologies.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in managing Windows systems in an enterprise production environment using VMWare
  • 2 - 4 years experience with Virtual Desktop deployment strategies.
  • 5+ years experience with Windows server 2012 and Windows 10 desktop platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Windows Active Directory, Groups and Policies.
  • Ability to self-direct, while coordinating with others to complete team project tasking's and investigate issues under limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn established security and availability management policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to include building and maintaining interdepartmental and interagency relationships.
  • Capability of briefing management on project status’.
  • Experience using Installation and Configuration Management best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Server+ or MCP, MCSA Windows 10/Server 2012R2, VCA (DBT) & VCP (DCV) desired.
  • Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VMWare Horizon View) and vSphere Console workstation and server administration.
  • Familiarity with working in an Army environment.
  • Fluency in a foreign language desired.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of operation are between 0600 and 1800 (MON-FRI).
  • 8 hour shift between hours of operation, 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional need to support after hours and weekends as required by mission specific requirements.
  • Medium sized team including engineers, Senior Sys Admins & Junior Sys admins.
