SOSi is seeking a SATCOM Field Service Technician to add to its team in support of the United States Army. This position is located in Rock Island, IL. The Technician will provide the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of deployed systems across the globe to ensure system deployment, readiness, and up-time. This is a travel position requiring travel to locations such as Europe and the Pacific Area of Responsibility.


  • Maintain proactive analysis and preventative maintenance of customer VSAT, Voice, Video and network systems worldwide to include hardware configurations; adding, removing, and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic tools; cable infrastructure installation and maintenance; and software upgrades and maintenance.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain customer systems globally as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of customer assigned equipment worldwide.
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate network or network infrastructure and apply knowledge of IA policies and controls.
  • Conduct fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components or cable infrastructure.
  • Apply knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware and software systems and components.
  • Performs implementation of software and hardware solutions, integrating with existing network and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings.


  • High School Diploma.
  • 5 years of experience with Telecommunications Systems to include system operations, engineering, design, installation, repair, and analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current passport.
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Current in-scope Secret Clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant (Security+ CE, GSEC, CCNA-Security, SSCP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 8 years of experience with Telecommunications Systems to include system operations, engineering, design, installation, repair, and analysis.
  • Experience with mobile satellite equipment, iDirect or other.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Windows Servers and workstations.
  • Experience with Cisco VTCs, Phones, Switches and Routers.
  • Experience with communications cabling installation.
  • Experience in deployed conditions.
  • 2+ years of experience providing FSR support in an OCONUS environment.
  • Experience should include: system operations, engineering, design, installation, repair analysis, Quality Assurance, troubleshooting or installation and repair of telecommunications systems and infrastructure to applicable military and I3MP standards.
  • Fluency in a foreign language desired.

Working Conditions

  • May have to work in an austere environment and be imbedded with military units while TDY.
  • This position does require work in a warehouse which can require operation of motor vehicles with trailers.
  • Up to 50% travel (typically 25% or less) to both CONUS and OCONUS locations.
