Overview

SOSi is seeking a Medical Technologist to join a large medical support services program in Iraq supporting our U.S. Government customer. The Medical Technologist will facilitate keeping patient records and adjusting and maintaining equipment; preparing work schedules, evaluating purchases of equipment, or managing a medical technical department.

Responsibilities

  •  Keeps patient records and adjusts and maintaining equipment.
  •  Prepares work schedules, evaluates purchases of equipment, or manages a medical technical department.
  •  Performs complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
  •  Examines and analyzes body fluids and cells and matches blood for transfusions.
  •  Analyzes chemical content of fluids and tests for drug levels in the blood.
  •  Prepares specimens, counts cells, and looks for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
  •  Analyzes test results.
  •  Makes cultures of body fluid and tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.
  •  Analyzes samples for chemical content or a chemical reaction and determines concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
  •  Evaluates test results, develops and modifies procedures, and establishes and monitors programs to ensure the accuracy of tests.

Qualifications

  • Required and able to obtain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).

  • Must be credentialed as an MLS (ASCP), MLS (ASCP) eligible or certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).

  • Must have completed a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a diploma, certificate or degree.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in desired field.

  • Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

  • Must be familiar with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products for transfusion.

  • All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least six months out of the past year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.

Working Conditions

  •  Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  •  Long Hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  •  Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse condition.
