Overview

SOSi is seeking an Operating Room Technician to join a large medical support services program in Iraq supporting our U.S. Government customer. The Operating Room Technician will facilitate performing necessary tasks for scrub role using technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs necessary tasks for scrub role using technical skills.
  • Assists Anesthetist with patient positioning.
  • Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrument sets as necessary.
  • Disinfects, decontaminates, and sterilizes of the surgical instruments.
  • Ensures proper instrumentation for each procedure and follows all principles of sterile technique.
  • Loads operations of the Stream Sterilizer.
  • Participates in all counts (instruments, sponges, sharps, etc.) as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Required and able to obtain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).

  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program with two years of experience or have the military equivalent training course with Certificate of Completion (i.e. 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1).

  • Two years of experience as a Surgical Technician is required.

  • Technician who has completed certification testing by the Association of Surgical Technologists is desirable.

  • Maintain current certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

  • All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least six months out of the past year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required. 

 

Working Conditions

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.

  • Long Hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse condition.
