SOSi is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Fire Chief (Operations) to support a U.S. Government customer OCONUS. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ DOD or Contractor Airfield Fire Protection experience with at least 2 years’ experience as Assistant Fire Chief.


  • Assist and support the Fire Chief in all contract requirements to ensure the success of the mission IAW all international, US, Air Force, NFPA requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies and make decisions related to emergency management and fireground operations to include evaluating and directing emergency operations to protect life and property.
  • Assist and supports Fire Chief as directed in all areas including:
    • Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate fire and EMS operations.
  • Prepare records and reports of company responses to fires or other emergencies, personnel actions, and other information as may be required.
  • Supervise and coordinate the preparation and presentation of an annual budget for the fire department; direct the implementation of the departments’ budgets; plan for and review specifications for new or replaced equipment.
  • Provide oversight and review department programs.
  • Represent Fire Emergency Services in a variety of meetings with Command staff, Contracting Officers, Airport, and any other agencies.
  • Supervise the firefighter health and safety programs including development and implementation.  Manage the comprehensive occupational medical evaluation program and other programs that are directed to improve the health and safety of department personnel.
  • Supervise Training Program including developing and tracking master training plan.
  • Supervise Fire Prevention Program including developing facility inspection schedule for the site ensuring inspections are conducted IAW international, US, Air Force, and NFPA requirements.
  • Handle grievances, maintain discipline and adherence to the rules and regulations of the standard operating guidelines of the Department.
  • Responsible for all documentation and reporting as required and directed by Program and Site leadership.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Program leadership.


  • Active in Scope Secret Security clearance.
  • Associates degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Fire Officer III
    • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Incident Commander
    • Fire Inspector II or III
    • Fire Instructor II or III
    • Airport Firefighter
  • 5 years’ DOD or Contractor Airfield Fire Protection experience.
  • Prior experience managing Firefighting on OCONUS projects preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.
