SOSi is seeking an IT Operations Manager in Rock Island, Illinois to be responsible for all technical operations of a Network Operations Center.  The Operations Manager will be responsible for the oversight and technical direction of the Service Desk, SATCOM, Systems, and Networking teams supporting a global SATCOM communications network for the Department of Defense.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to Service Desk, SATCOM, System and Networking teams supporting a global communications network for the Department of Defense.
  • Place a strategic focus on maintaining maximum uptime while simultaneously prioritizing Technology, and engineering efforts.
  • Provide technical direction, daily supervision, and mentorship to operations staff.
  • Manage computer operations.
  • Ensure computer system resources are used effectively.
  • Coordinate the resolution of production-related problems.
  • Ensure proper relationships are established between customers, teaming partners, and vendors to facilitate the delivery of information technology services.
  • Provide users with computer output.
  • Supervise staff operations.
  • Assess and analyze budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize resources.
  • Long-term planning to create initiatives that further the customer’s overall goals.
  • Identify potential problems and points of friction and work to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency.



  • An MA/MS degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a BA/BS degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • In scope active Secret security clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field. Additional experience can qualify in lieu of degree.
  • IAT-II certification (Security+).
  • At least one computing environment certification (CCNA preferred).
  • Experience leading and mentoring multiple teams with competing priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team training and learning opportunities.
  • Must be able to adjust to emergency situations and changing priorities in 24/7 support of network operations.
  • Must be composed and effective under the pressure of heavy workloads, time sensitive demands, or changing conditions, while remaining tactful, diplomatic, considerate of views of others, and an effective leader.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications


  • IAM-II certification (CAP, CASP, CISM, CISSP, GSLC, CCISO)
  • Fluency in a foreign language desired but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office conditions with possible requirement to lift and/or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
