SOSi is seeking a Senior System Lead to add to its Integrated Network Operations Center team in Rock Island, Illinois. The Senior Systems Team Lead will manage a team of Systems Administrators responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of SATCOM operations requirements.

  • Interacts with system users to translate their requirements into systems, hardware, and software requirements.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and analysis of test strategies.
  • Manages the solution of engineering problems from conceptualization to operation and maintenance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  • Researches and recommends technical solutions for system upgrades.
  • Perform additions and changes to systems hardware and operating systems and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new hardware and software.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system maintenance is in line with DoD regulation and industry best practice.
  • Perform server and workstation security audits.
  • Analyze system, server, application, and network performance.
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycle.
  • Install patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Assist in system integration testing, load testing, stress testing, and user acceptance testing processes.
  • Maintain reports regarding system downtime.
  • Maintain plans for preventative maintenance and disaster recovery.
  • Perform routine problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications.
  • Aid in the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans and maintain current knowledge of plan executables.
  • Respond to emergency outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with end users and technical staff to implement and maintain systems that utilize industry best practices to meet business objectives, while maintaining the security and integrity of the data, system and network.
  • Generate metrics, project status reports, and operating status reports as needed.
  • Review and monitor the progress of projects to ensure accuracy and timeliness of delivery.
  • Provide functional direction, technical expertise, and mentorship to less experienced personnel.



  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant systems administration or systems engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of systems administration or systems engineering experience in a DoD environment.
  • Active in-scope DoD Secret Clearance.
  • IAT-II certification such as Security+ or equivalent.
  • At least one computing environment certification (MCSA, Linux+, etc)
  • Experience with the principles and methods used in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with provisioning systems, workflow systems, user attributes, and role-based permissions for identity management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with implementation of SIEM tools such as Splunk, ArcSight, and Elastic.
  • Experience delivering integrated security solutions across multiple security domains such as networks, enterprise, and enclaves.
  • Experience with cloud disaster recovery tools such as Dell EMC Avamar.
  • Experience working in a datacenter environment.

  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
