Overview

** This position is contingent upon a contract award**

 

SOSi is seeking a Country Fire Chief who will support the contract and report to the Program Manager. The Country Fire Chief supports the Program Manager in managing all facets of fire and emergency services to the Chief of Mission (COM) sites. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe workplace and ensure safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
  • Manage, monitor, and track fire and emergency services at all contract sites.
  • Allocate and manage fire and emergency services staff resources according to changing needs.
  • Identify problem areas and respond to mission requirements to perform contract requirements.
  • Plan and manage projects.
  • Control resources, monitor staff proficiency and qualifications, monitor the locations and activities of assets, and coordinate the flow of information to and from contract staff and USG representatives.
  • Resolve contract fire and emergency services issues.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Active in Scope Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Technology, Fire Management, or related field.
  • Ten (10) years Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief experience with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in providing such services to large operations.
  • Valid driver’s license from home of record.
  • Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Fire Officer IV; Fire Instructor III; Fire Inspector III; HAZMAT Incident Commander; Airport Fire Fighter certifications.
  • Ability to fully execute the Country Fire Chief duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to direct firefighting operations to include fighting aircraft and structural fires, performing rescue services, and responding to hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies, and confined space rescues.
  • Knowledge of the chemistry of fire, preventive maintenance and operation of firefighting and rescue equipment, physical and chemical properties of combustible materials and building structures and their component systems.
  • Ability to manage fire prevention and protection plans and programs.
  • In depth knowledge of AR 420-1 and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and guidelines.
  • Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of contract activities for a comparable operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant overseas facilities management experience.
  • Previous international experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions.
  • Experience working with Contractor.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required. 

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a combination of both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • This contract is performed in a contingency operations environment, in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this contract, may regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment.
  • Must be willing and able to perform job requirements in this environment, as well as deploying to Iraq for extended periods.
  • May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
  • Must be able to move quickly to cover during security alarms. This includes being able to lift, carry and/or wear forty (40) pounds of personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time and being capable of running during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
  • Work could include assignments, or visits to multiple sites – either temporarily, or, long term – in remote, or, austere locations.
