Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Network Administrator to join our team in Ramstein, Germany. The Mission Partner Environment Engineering Support (MPE ES) team at Ramstein AB, Germany is seeking an experienced Network Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for working with multiple members of the team around the USAFE Theater and supporting information sharing with our international partners. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning, designing, acquiring, installing, and maintaining LAN and WAN, electronic mail, telecommunications, and PC based systems and related software. Evaluating hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and telecommunications equipment. Setting up and administering security procedures; troubleshooting problems; establishing and implementing LAN policies and their conformance; coordinating activities of LAN support personnel; and providing guidance on common networking issues. Additionally, responsible for assessing vendor products, managing network performance, troubleshooting problems, and maintaining network security. 

  • Establish Network information requirements using analysis of the Network Engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale networking infrastructure (i.e. LAN, WAN).
  • Design architecture to include software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements; as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
  • Ensure Network systems are compatible and in compliance with standards for open systems architectures. The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models and profiles of as they apply to the implementation and specification of information management (IM) solutions of the network layers across the application program interface (API) and the external environment/software application.
  • Evaluate, both analytically and systematically, problems with workflows and network usage, the organizing, planning, and developing appropriate corrective action.
  • Manage usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.
  • Maintain network security and ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing and implementing network-related procedures and standards.
  • Participate in, and potentially lead, all or portions of major network installations and upgrades.
  • Interface with vendors and other support personnel to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.
  • Develop and implement testing strategies and document results.
  • Provide advice and training to end-users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  • Maintain system documentation.
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate and improve user support activities.
  • Monitor overall network health and troubleshoot reported events.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices (i.e., call manager, routers, switches, firewalls, IDS, QoS).
  • Install, configure, and maintain HAIPE network cryptographic equipment. (i.e., General Dynamics Taclanes, and ViaSat KG various models.)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Cisco IOS and NX-OS based network devices.
  • Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including email, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing, authentication, and the like.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • May perform additional network administration duties as directed.
  • May administer network security and/or maintain network security appliances.

Qualifications

  • An active in-scope SECRET clearance
  • High School Diploma with eleven (11) years of IT related experience, OR AA/AS +7 OR BA/BS +5
  • Must receive TESA approval from the German government
  • DoD 8570 IAT level II compliant (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) or higher
  • Knowledge of Security: Cisco ASA product line, ACLs, IPSec, ViaSat KG-250, 250X, KG-175D/G/F, IPS, Juniper SSG family, SRX series; Commercial Solution for Classified (CSfC)—allows customers to protect classified data using layered commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN: Cisco Routers (2600 series 2900 series, 3800 series, 3900 series, 7200 series, ASR-1001/2x) and Switches (2960, 3130, 3550, 3650, 3750, 3850 6880), Wireshark, Juniper Routers, ESXi Virtual switching, SNMP Monitoring, SolarWinds NPM, SolarWinds Engineering Toolset, SolarWinds Network Traffic Analyzer
  • BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IKEV1, IKEv2, DMVPN
  • Knowledge of Architecture: Deployment, Virtual server deployment, Network and Data Center Design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA Certification
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required

  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
