SOSi is seeking a Linguist Supervisor to join our team overseeing the Linguists in support of our customer.   


  • The Linguistic Supervisor shall work on site on our customer's site or elsewhere as directed by the COR
  • The Linguistic Supervisor shall be capable of satisfactorily fulfilling all of the functions and duties described herein for Linguists.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor shall effectively and efficiently plan and organize the various duties as described herein.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will assign Linguists to monitor real-time oral telecommunications and/or written communication intercepts.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will assign Linguists to transcribe, translate, and validate completed work. Any personnel changes required during the shift shall be coordinated between the Linguistic Supervisor and the Site Supervisor
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will be accountable for daily work assignments and products.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will ensure that the Contractor’s approved QC Plan (submitted to, approved by the Government, and attached to this Contract in Attachment 1—Exhibit 5 entitled “Quality Control Plan”) is implemented and fully operational, as written.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will ensure that each Linguist completes their work assignments(s) prior to the end of their shift. Any uncompleted assignment(s) will be noted by the Linguistic Supervisor as to which assignment(s) was uncompleted and the reason(s) for non-completion of the assignments(s). The Linguistic Supervisor shall also be responsible for a smooth transition to the next shift and coordinate Linguists, assignments, activities, etc., with the preceding and/or succeeding Linguistic Supervisor.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will oversee daily activity to ensure that all tasks are being properly executed: shall interface regularly with all Key Personnel and the COR regarding performance matters and issues concerning the day-to-day operations; and shall respond to problems or issues from the COR, whether technical or administrative in nature.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will maintain records of work production, evidence control, and other administrative records as required by the customer. These records will be maintained at the customer site.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will prepare and present to the COR, or his /her designee, a quarterly schedule detailing adequate manpower coverage for each shift for the forthcoming quarter. The schedule is due prior to the end of the preceding quarter as directed by the COR.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor will maintain time and attendance records for all Contract personnel.
  • The Linguistic Supervisor must have the approval of the Site Supervisor and the COR before any changes can be made relating to staffing, procedures, and/or policy.


  • The Linguistic Supervisor will either have a bachelor’s degree with a major in a foreign language (preferably Spanish) from an English-speaking college or university resulting in equal foreign language  (preferably Spanish) and English language grammatical and communication skills or, a bachelor’s degree with a major in English from a foreign language-speaking college or university resulting in equal English and foreign language (preferably Spanish) language grammatical and communication skills. Enabling the individual to comprehend, write, and speak Both English and a foreign language (preferably Spanish) at the native or near-native level;
  • Or in place of a degree, the Linguistic Supervisor will have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in translating, interpreting, or other work requiring the use of the English and a foreign language; or a combination of work that required English and foreign language training at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Service Institute, or comparable formal training resulting in equal foreign language and English language grammatical and communication skills, enabling the individual to comprehend, write, and speak English and the foreign language (preferably Spanish) at the native or near-native level.  
  • The following are examples of work in the required language which may have provided the required abilities and specialized experience: translator; interpreter; writer or editor; international organizational work (i.e., Peace Corps, World Bank, United Nations, business, or other organizations); the Armed Forces; Educator (i.e., professor, teacher, or instructor) working at the high school or college level that required use of the foreign language. Additional Linguistic Supervisor requirements are as follows:
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience that demonstrates oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and administrative management skills.
  • Experience that demonstrates an ability to effectively manage people and resources to satisfy project objectives and ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Excellent command of the English language and the ability to provide clear, concise, oral and written communications.
  • Skills necessary to listen and comprehend a foreign language with native or near-native ability, and to follow accurately the basic elements of conversation, whether written or verbal.
  • Skills necessary to read and comprehend foreign language(s) with a native or near-native ability and to read and understand various text-types.
  • The ability to comprehend slang and colloquial expressions in a foreign language and translate them into English.
  • A sufficiently broad vocabulary in English that paraphrasing or explaining is unnecessary.
  • The ability to work well under pressure to meet specific deadlines.
  • A minimum of 40 wpm typing/word processing skill and have managerial presentation skills.
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desired, but not required. 
  • In scope Secret security clearance is required.
