Overview

SOSi is seeking an experienced Engineer Technician to support a project assignment currently estimated to last approximately 6 months.  Selected candidate is to work independently performing project planning, analysis, engineering, and AUTOCAD design assignments in support of a Facilities Management and Maintenance Support Services contract at MacDill AFB, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 2D or 3D designs plans, surface and solid models, and inputting design specifications utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Respond to a variety of client technical inquiries, meeting with engineers and designers to review blueprints and design drawings.
  • Review CAD models submitted by construction and subcontractors with the client, make minor adjustments and submit final product.
  • Develop MS Project Gant charts at various levels of complexity tracking multiple projects.
  • Prepare site surveys, project planning, and prepare work statements, specifications, design documents, and cost estimates.
  • Perform life cycle cradle to grave project management as appropriate for the assigned work.
  • Coordinate extensively and frequently with client, Civil Engineer Squadron personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, performance work statements, and specifications for existing and proposed facilities.
  • Interpret design sketches to produce working drawings using applicable software and techniques, and maintain architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical drawings for the Tampa and Al Udeid CENTCOM facilities.
  • Interpret and apply building codes and standards to ensure USCENTCOM requirements are met.
  • Analyze drawings for constructability, errors and omissions, conflicts, phasing and life cycle management.
  • Perform Quality Assurance activities on behalf of the client during project execution and prepare written comments and reports as appropriate.
  • Prepare and manage work requirements utilizing Form 332, Base Civil Engineer Work Request.
  • Manage the Work Clearance Request system via AF Form 103 during the processing, approval and completion stages.
  • Advise USCENTCOM regarding electrical system, and hardware capabilities, integration, limitations, and enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Active in scope TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in the field OR
  • Associate degree and 11 years of experience in the field.
  • 3-5 years CAD experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of building design and mechanical processes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually on projects.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to solve problems.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Air Force or Army culture, language, and expectations for mission success.
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
