Overview

SOSi is currently seeking a Senior Accountant - General Ledger III to join our team in Reston, VA.  The Senior Accountant- General Ledger III will be responsible for various general ledger activities including reconciliations, preparation of entries, and support to the month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Provide audit support during external audits.
  • Prepares account analysis of various accounts, investigates any discrepancies and makes appropriate adjustments as required.
  • Prepares and monitors standard and recurring journal entries for monthly closing process.
  • Coordinate with Project Control Analyst’s and Billing to ensure that data is properly entered and available for invoicing and program reporting.
  • Prepare bank account reconciliations with a high volume of transactions.
  • Maintains compliance with tax laws and file monthly sales/use/excise tax, annual Personal Property Tax and BPOL Preparation and filing.
  • Research and communicate with tax agency to solve tax issues.
  • Prepare monthly direct cost accrual from Project Control Analysts.
  • Record bi-weekly payroll payments.
  • Prepare purchase requisition for finance department per instruction.
  • Record foreign currency transactions, review & post daily cash receipts.
  • Accrue monthly GSA fee and process quarterly payment.
  • Import and process ACH/Wire transfer.
  • Collaborates with other finance staff and other departments on special projects.
  • Identifies potential problems or areas for improvement and provides solutions.
  • Performs other accounting related duties as assigned by management and works with team to ensure deadlines are met and all deliverables completed in a timely manner.
  • Keeps account and data tables up to date in Deltek accounting system.
  • Reconciles accounts and investigates problems in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and labor clearing accounts.
  • Works with cost accounting and Billing to ensure that data is properly entered and available for invoicing and program reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Finance/Accounting preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • 6-9 years of experience in general ledger government contracting.
  • Experience working in contract/job order environment.
  • Deltek Costpoint 7.0/8.0.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and multitask complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or independently on specific projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required. 

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days of remote work.
