Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a highly qualified Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Wiesdbaden Germany. The Linux System Administrator will be a dual-hat member of the Linux Team & DCOD Tools Team to maintain Linux servers, application containers, and IDS sensors.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Linux Information Technology (IT) infrastructure within the organization, including the host network as well as server applications and software
  • Configures, installs, maintains and upgrades server applications and hardware
  • Evaluates, tests, recommends, coordinates, monitors and maintains information systems (IS) and cyber security policies, procedures and systems, including access management for hardware, firmware and software
  • Ensures that IS and cyber security plans, controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures are aligned with IS standards and overall IS and cyber security
  • Identifies security risks and exposures, determines the causes of security violations and suggests procedures to halt future incidents and improve security
  • Develops techniques and procedures for conducting IS and cyber security risk assessments and compliance audits, the evaluation and testing of hardware, firmware and software for possible impact on system security, and the investigation and resolution of security incidents such as intrusion, frauds, attacks or leaks
  • Support Linux operating systems for a number of internal customers
  • Support Intrusion Detection Sensor applications and baseline configurations
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance complex tools that support defensive cyber operations
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance best practices and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure uptime and performance for all supported systems
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for integration into existing operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server and service outages
  • Work towards replacing legacy tools, applications, and platforms
  • Support system accreditation efforts
  • Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Qualifications

  • An active in scope Top Secret/SCI clearance is required
  • Bachelor in related discipline +5, AS +7, major certification +7 or 11+ years specialized experience
  • An IAT III certification (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH) or higher is required.
  • A current Linux computing environment certification (RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, etc.)
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience working in a large VoIP environment to include design, installation, and support
  • Three (3) years Linux command line administrative experience
  • Basic scripting capability in Bash, Python, or Perl
  • Ability to install Linux and set up networking
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues with tcpdump and ip commands
  • Ability to manage firewalld/iptables rules
  • Ability to apply and troubleshoot SELinux rules
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to articulate problems, shortcomings, corrective actions, results, and outcomes with teammates and government customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with using configuration management services (Saltstack, Ansible, etc)
  • Experience in container creation/management (Docker/Podman)
  • Experience deploying and operating Elastic
  • Experience with SSL/TLS and OpenSSL
  • Experience with SELinux
  • Familiarity with Git and pushing projects
  • An in-depth understanding of all aspects of Defensive Cyber Operations
  • A proven positive experience in working with government customers

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • On site in Wiesbaden, Germany
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
