SOSi is seeking a Mid-Level Imagery Scientist in Charlottesville, VA, who will provide scientific and technical support as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of applied remote sensing professionals. The responsibilities include full implementation of remote sensing capabilities, including analysis and production, test and evaluation, data processing, exploitation and dissemination, intelligence production, and workflow. The candidate will provide technical input to developers and test and execute exploitation algorithms, tools, and methodologies to extract valuable information from complex airborne and satellite sensor data, including spectral, thermal, and/or synthetic aperture radar (SAR).  

• Works with government Imagery Scientists to develop and apply new analytical quality standards and guidelines and may lead small production teams focused on a particular customer, target, or region.
• Performs duties with minimal oversight; applies knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies; provides technical assistance to project leaders and program managers.
• Prepares and delivers technical presentations for community-sponsored Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) symposiums, meetings, working groups and collection exercises.
• Conduct imagery science in support of ground forces intelligence requirements 
• Process and exploit data, with an emphasis on full spectrum hyperspectral data, to support Army information needs. 
• Develop new, and modernize existing algorithms, tools, and methodologies for exploitation of hyperspectral imagery. 
• Conduct research, development, testing, and evaluation to identify new remote sensing applications with emphasis in hyperspectral imagery. 
• Characterize data from existing and emerging ground, air, and space based spectral and remote sensing sensors. 
• Operate field and lab instrumentation such as an ASD FieldSpec, Exoscan 4100, Cary 5000, Thermo Fisher iS50, and other radiometers as well as weather monitoring and calibration equipment within the CONUS and OCONUS. 
• Author technical papers and presentations and present findings at community symposiums, meetings, and working groups.

• Active In Scope TS/SCI Clearance.
• Advanced degree in remote sensing, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and geography.
• 8+ years of applied experience.
• MUST have experience with Hyperspectral Imagery.
• Expertise using ENVI and FSTK. 
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively, and comfortable communicating directly with customers. 

• Experience leveraging AI/ML tools to train, tune, test, and deploy models. 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in a related field of study such as basic applied science or engineering.
• Expertise with Matlab and Python. 

• Relatively fast paced, time critical environment.
