Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Network Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join our team in Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Honolulu, Hawaii. Our Government Customer based out of Honolulu, Hawaii creates, manages, and supports IT solutions for USINDOPACOM, its mission and its 5,000+ customers throughout the Pacific theater. Our team solves challenging technical problems that enable USINDOPACOM to realize critical and time sensitive C2 strategies.

Responsibilities

Provides technical assessment, assistance and troubleshooting within the assigned Area-of-Responsibility (AOR). Ensures the network capabilities are readily available, properly monitored, maintained, and secured in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations. The customer's  network capabilities include, but not limited to, Local Area Network (LAN)/Base Area Network (BAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) components, telecommunications, and transport protocols (e.g., IP, DHCP), Unified Communications/VoIP/Video Teleconferencing (VTC), WAN accelerators (WANX), load-balancers, firewalls and associated cryptographic devices (TACLANEs). Performs device assessment and configuration testing including documentation of processes, procedures, and findings.

 

  • Reviews and coordinates Customer-service requirements and requests. Designs and implements (configures) network components to meet project requirements. Assists with completing Request for Information (RFI’s) for the customer's management and Government customer(s).
  • Participates in customer's engineering, analysis, and solution delivery, especially as it relates to implementation, installs, network operations, maintenance, sustainment, and support. Completes technical drawings, briefings/presentations, and associated List of Materials (LOM).
  • Analyzes and resolves interoperability and functionality concerns for end-user and networking (transport) devices. Troubleshoots Layer 1/2/3 issues including routing protocols (e.g., EIGRP, OSPF, BGP etc.). Troubleshoots Voice (VoIP), VTC devices and related Unified Messaging/Communications components.
  • Prepares and configures customer's network solution components including network devices (e.g., routers, switches, TACLANES etc.), circuits (ordering, delivery, testing), endpoints (e.g., zero-clients, thin-clients, VoIP’s, FAKs etc.).
  • Creates, updates, and resolves service tickets in JIRA to track status. Ensures incidents regarding MPE-ES network-infrastructure and related core-services are tracked and resolved.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates with Systems team, ESD and external parties (e.g., DISA, local COMMS teams) to ensure work priorities and service delivery goals are being met.
  • Assists with COMSEC duties.
  • Monitors operational status of network and their related effects. Communicates status and changes to customer's leadership, Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) and interested parties.
  • Evaluates new services, technologies, software, tools, and devices as they pertain to existing or future requirements. Documents and communicates findings and concerns.
  • Assess current work processes and propose recommendations that would improve customer's work efficiencies.
  • Validates SOPs and TTPs associated with current knowledge of relevant network technologies. Regularly collects and summarizes pertinent network accomplishments, issues, and concerns.
  • Provides support to DoD Exercises. Participates in and provides feedback to network-relevant special projects.
  • Ensures compliance of custody and ownership of Government equipment and related components.

Qualifications

  • An Active in-scope SECRET clearance and US Passport.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
  • 6+ years of experience in network administration, circuit & network design, and enterprise IT service center operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in IT network administration, troubleshooting and support. Knowledgeable in OSI model. Previous fiber experience (i.e., “layer-1”).
  • Extended knowledge of networking (switching and routing protocols, installation, and configuration) with prior experience using Cisco and Brocade network solutions.
  • Prior experience with Type-1 Encryption Devices (e.g., TACLANE KG-175 D/G).
  • Prior experience with DISA circuit ordering and management.
  • Prior experience with implementing/supporting Unified Communications (UC) (e.g., VoIP, Cisco Call Manager, dVTC).
  • Able to support 24/7 operations (including support to exercises), when necessary.
  • Able to follow instructions and work both independently and in a (distributed) team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT Certification (e.g., Cisco, Citrix, Dell, HP, ITIL, Microsoft, Nutanix, Palo Alto, VMware)
  • Well-versed in Department of Defense (DoD) protocols, procedures, and regulations including network STIGs.
  • Previous experience (installations, troubleshooting, support) with virtual infrastructure (HCI/Nutanix, Citrix), VDI/thin-client, VoIP deployments.
  • Prior experience with Forcepoint, Juniper and/or Palo Alto technologies a plus.
  • Prior experience with NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) and associated packages.
  • Prior Help Desk/software experience (e.g., Jira, Remedy, ServiceNow).
  • Awareness of C2 applications.
  • Awareness or experience in ITIL framework and ITIL best practices (e.g., Change Management, Configuration Management)

Working Conditions

  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours (e.g., consecutive nights and/or weekends).
  • May require occasional travel to locations within the supported AOR.
