Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Honolulu, Hawaii. The Customer based out of Honolulu, Hawaii creates, manages, and supports IT solutions for USINDOPACOM, its mission and its 5,000+ customers throughout the Pacific theater. Our team solves challenging technical problems that enable USINDOPACOM to realize critical and time sensitive C2 strategies

Responsibilities

Serves as a senior IT engineer focused on technology solutions, analysis, research, and delivery. Provides input and guidance into systems and infrastructure components (hardware, software, transport) and their configuration. Ensures systems and services are monitored and maintained in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines (e.g., STIGs). The candidate will evaluate, provide input, and implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) elements to meet cybersecurity objectives and mandates. Assigned duties include Tier-3 support, troubleshooting and correction of dependent user/network devices and associated application services (e.g., email, file transfer, unified communications, etc.) on multiple separated customer managed Coalition enclaves.

 

  • Conducts IT engineering: assessment, analysis, and solution development to include List of Materials (LOM), proposals and related supporting documents (e.g., solution diagrams, implementation timelines, etc.)
  • Implements, documents, and supports approved customer based IT solutions.
  • Performs as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding the customer based thin-client, hyper-converged VDI solution architecture to include the back-end services infrastructure stack.
  • Evaluates new services, technologies, software, tools, and devices that may improve the customer's  abilities to proactively monitor performance and remediate concerns.
  • Acts as a point of escalation and coverage for incidents. Secures and manages proper communication, correction, and response.
  • Assists with oversight to assigned IT projects. Assists with recruiting, on boarding, direction/guidance, training, and assessment of the customer's engineers, administrators, and technicians.
  • Initiates and validates SOPs and TTPs associated with current knowledge of relevant technologies.
  • Regularly collects and summarizes pertinent customer based  IT engineering accomplishments, issues, and concerns.
  • Acknowledges, categorizes, and validates Request for Information (RFI’s) for customer based management and Government customer(s) as they pertain to customer IT engineering responsibilities.
  • Participates in and provides feedback to IT-relevant special projects.
  • Ensures compliance of custody and ownership of Government equipment and related components

Qualifications

  • An Active in-scope TOP SECRET (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP)
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Appropriate IT certification (e.g., Cisco, Citrix, Dell, HPE, ITIL, Linux, Microsoft, Nutanix, Palo Alto, VMware)
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise (multi-site) IT service center operations. Familiar with IT enterprise service delivery concepts and components (e.g., File/Print, NTP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, Authentication, RBAC/least-privilege, Clustering/High-availability, Storage Management, Data Replication, Backup, Archiving etc.)
  • 5+ years in analysis, design, and delivery of complex multi-classification IT infrastructures including previous experience in delivery and support to classified VDI/virtual environments (e.g., Citrix, VMware ESXi/Horizon, Azure Cloud/Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV) including thin-clients and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
  • Prior experience with relevant versions of Microsoft Server technologies (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server etc.)
  • Prior experience with Linux (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.) with proficiency in command line and scripting (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, JavaScript, BASH, Python etc.)
  • Prior experience with Forcepoint Trusted Thin Client (TTC), Nutanix AHV hypervisor (Prism) and Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.
  • Able to support 24/7 operations (including support to exercises), when necessary.
  • Prior experience in managing teams: coordinates and communicates with internal and external stakeholders, including MPE-ES users and partners.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Able to follow instructions and work both independently to complete projects and assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 IAT-III compliant (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH)
  • MS/MA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Program of Record (POR)/C2 applications and associated installation/support.
  • Prior experience with transport/networking configuration and operation (circuits, firewall, router/switch).
  • Familiar with NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) packages.
  • Prior experience with server, client, network transport encryption, and certificate management.
  • Proficient in DevOps/DevSecOps solutions to include automation (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform), containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman, Containerd) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Rancher).
  • Prior experience with Elastic Stack (AKA ELK stack) and/or associated event-logging components (e.g., Kafka, Beats, Logstash, Kibana, Grafana).
  • Prior Help Desk/software experience (e.g., Jira, Remedy, ServiceNow) and remote collaboration technologies (e.g., MS TEAMS).
  • Certification or prior experience in ITIL framework and ITIL best practices (e.g., configuration management, change management, knowledge management, capacity planning).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
